Zawiya – The municipalities of Greater Zawiya strongly condemned a series of attacks targeting vital and civilian facilities in the city. In a statement on Wednesday, the municipalities called on security, military, and judicial authorities to launch an urgent and comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances and identify those responsible.
The statement said the attacks involved the use of kamikaze drones, which struck the water desalination company, the storage tanks of Brega Oil Marketing Company, and the power station supplying southern Zawiya. These incidents caused blackouts and left several areas in complete darkness.
The municipalities warned that repeated attacks on vital and civilian infrastructure pose a serious escalation, threaten the city’s security and residents’ safety, and damage essential infrastructure and daily public services.
The statement called for the results of the investigation to be made public and for legal action against anyone found to have participated in or supported the attacks. It emphasized that protecting civilian infrastructure and citizens’ safety is a shared national responsibility.
The municipalities stressed that the security of Greater Zawiya, the protection of its residents, and the safety of its key facilities are non-negotiable priorities. They urged state institutions to respond to these developments with the necessary seriousness and firmness.
