Oil Minister denies disappearance of $324,000 from Mellitah company account while he was heading it

Tuesday, December 28, 2021 Business 1 Min Read
Libya seeks to produce 1.5m bpd by the end of 2021, says Oil Minister

The Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohamed Aoun, denied the disappearance of $324,000 from the Mellitah Company account within 3 days in August 2011 during his presidency of the company at the time.

According to the economic newspaper, Sada Aoun, Aoun said: “This issue is simply a lie, falsehood, and misleading of public opinion.”

He pointed out that this issue was discussed in detail in a meeting with the Head of the Interim Government and the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Rifaat Al-Abbar, and Minister of State, Adel Jumaa, on September 5th.

He continued: “I asked the Prime Minister to address the Public Prosecutor, the Administrative Control Authority, or any oversight body in the state to investigate this matter, and I am ready to appear before any body that is publicly investigating before the Libyan people; To make it clear to them the extent of lies, perjury and slander.”
