The government appointed by the House of Representatives will hold tomorrow its first meeting since the suspension of its prime minister, Fathi Bashagha, last week.
In a statement via Facebook on Saturday, the government invited the media to attend its “consultative meeting […] chaired by [Acting] Prime Minister Dr. Osama Hammad” in Benghazi.
The House of Representatives had voted to oust Bashagha after he failed to take office in Tripoli where the incumbent Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh has refused to cede power.
The parliament assigned Bashagha’s finance minister Osama Hamad to take over his duties, parliament spokesperson Abdullah Belhaiq said, part of an apparent new push to oust Dbeibeh and install a new government in Tripoli.
