The Libyan Parliament Speaker Aqila Saleh made a phone call to the delegation of the Libyan al-Akhdar Football team, which is in Tanzania for a game against Azam FC, during which he reassured the health and safety of the team’s players and all members of the delegation, after being subjected to deliberate anesthesia.
Parliament Spokesman, Abdulla Bleihiq, explained that Saleh called on “the Libyan Football Association to follow up on the investigations into this incident and to take the necessary measures that guarantee the safety of the mission in the first place and preserve the right of Libya and its representative in the African Confederation Cup.”
Al-Akhdar Club Administration had announced that its delegation had been subjected to “deliberate anesthesia”, which caused its members to be transferred to a hospital in Tanzania.
The administration of Al-Akhdar Club called on the Minister of Sports and the Libyan Football Association to assume their responsibilities and intervene in the face of the obstacles facing the team’s mission in Tanzania.
Al-Akhdar had won its first leg match against Azam at the Benina Stadium in Benghazi 3-0.
