The Libyan Parliament-appointed Prime Minister Osama Hammad welcomed on Sunday the announcement of the unification of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL).
Hammad said in a statement: “We welcome the outcomes of the meeting of the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya in Tripoli, and the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Libya in Benghazi, which resulted in the announcement of the unification of the bank.”
The Premier added: “This announcement came after the divide that CBL suffered for many years, which negatively affected the Libyans.”
Hammad continued: “The Libyan government appreciates all the national efforts made in support of the unification of the bank, in the light of which the effects that resulted from the divide will be addressed.”
It is noteworthy that CBL Governor, Seddiq al-Kabir, announced today that the Bank has returned as a unified sovereign institution.
