Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh, met on Wednesday with a number of members of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee (JMC) at the Cabinet in Tripoli, to discuss the need for “prior coordination in taking measures and decisions.”
Dbeibeh stressed, during the meeting, on “the need for prior coordination regarding the measures and decisions taken and reviewing them to be consistent with the Government’s plan,” a government statement said.
He announced the Defense Ministry’s support for the committee’s efforts and periodic follow-up on its work, “commending the achievement of opening the Coastal Road, and importance of securing it in coordination with the Interior Ministry.”
The 5+5 JMC had agreed on Saturday on an “emergency plan” for the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign forces. It also made an official request to the House of Representatives (HoR), the Government of National Unity (GNU), and the Presidential Council to “freeze military agreements and memoranda of understanding with any country, especially Turkey and Russia.”
