Shahat – Researcher Essam Al-Manfi found a small statue believed to be from the Roman era. The discovery was made inside an ancient water channel after rainfall on Friday. The artifact was handed over to the competent authorities on Saturday. Members of the Tourism Police and Internal Security were present.
The artifact is a block of marble or light-colored limestone. It is topped by a very small bust.
Researcher Essam Al-Manfi holds a master’s degree in archaeology. In 2023, he previously found the head of the Greek statue of Bacchus. That discovery was also in a water channel near the ancient city of Shahhat.
