Sirte Appeals Court and Court Complex Inaugurated for the First Time

Sirte – The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Counselor Muftah al-Qawi, and the Attorney General, Counselor Al-Siddiq al-Sour, inaugurated the Sirte Court of Appeal for the first time. This marks a pivotal point in the city’s judicial infrastructure, accompanied by the Courts and Prosecutions Complex, in a historic judicial event highlighting the development of the local judicial structure.

The opening ceremony, held this Sunday, was attended by members of the Supreme Judicial Council; Mahmoud al-Ferjani, Director General of the National Development Agency; Mokhtar al-Maadani, Mayor of Sirte; Counselor Abdel Qader Said, President of the Sirte Court of First Instance; Counselor Hassan Bashabish, Advocate General at the Court of Appeal; Counselor Saleh Masoud, Head of the Sirte Prosecution; and Brigadier General Ahmed Amadi, Director of the Sirte Security Directorate. Also present were heads and members of judicial and judicial police agencies from Sirte and Al-Jufra, media representatives, and the head of the Social Council of Sirte Tribes.

Following the inauguration, the President and members of the Supreme Judicial Council inspected the facility, which includes over eight administrative offices, a chamber for criminal and high appeal sessions with a capacity for approximately 100 people, a deliberation room, service facilities, and a spacious reception and waiting hall, providing a suitable environment for judicial work and litigants.

The Libya News Agency (LANA) correspondent in Sirte confirmed that the court was fully implemented and equipped with modern equipment under the supervision of the National Development Agency and the directives of the General Command.

In a statement to LANA in Sirte, the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Counselor Muftah al-Qawi, congratulated the judicial community and structures on the opening of the Court of Appeal, wishing success to all colleagues and hoping the court would be a gateway of prosperity for Sirte and all of Libya. He emphasized that the visit also aimed to launch two important judicial achievements in the region: the Court of Appeal and the Courts and Prosecutions Complex in Sirte, while thanking everyone who contributed to the success of these two judicial projects.
