Ghat – The ninth edition of the mass wedding event kicked off, Wednesday, in the city of Ghat, with the participation of 14 grooms, amid a joyous celebratory atmosphere reflecting authentic local traditions.
The head of the organizing committee, Khalifa Amghar, said in a statement to the Libyan News Agency that the event is being held through self-funded and volunteer efforts without any official support, noting that preparations were completed to ensure the success of the event, which coincides with the wedding season in the region.
He added that any financial surplus from the event’s costs is returned to the grooms’ families, affirming the policy of facilitation and social solidarity that the committee has adopted since the initiative’s launch years ago.
The celebration witnessed a large turnout from local residents, as tents were decorated with traditional colors and symbols. Folk music bands participated in enlivening the occasion, which reflects the spirit of cooperation and family cohesion in the city of Ghat.
The mass wedding is an annual occasion that embodies the authentic social values of the people of Ghat and their keenness to promote synergy and community participation in an atmosphere of joy and celebration of cultural heritage.
