The Tuareg Tribal Council has declared its support for Prime Minister-designate Fathi Bashagha, and called on the international community to stop outgoing premier Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, who refuses to hand over power.
“We ask the international community to respect the desire of the Libyans, to stop the government of Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, which uses its influence to exploit the Libyans and make emotional decisions that do not bring solutions to our problems,” reads a statement of the council.
The council also accused Dbeibeh of “corruption to stay in power” and threatened to stop oil production if he did not step down.
“We do not want to switch to other options that stop the source of income of the Libyans,” the council stated.
