U.S. Charge d’Affairs in Libya Leslie Ordeman Tuesday visited the tomb of Omar al-Mukhtar in Benghazi, describing the resistance movement leader against Italian colonization as “a symbol of Libyan unity and national pride.”
“I was honored to visit the tomb of Omar Mukhtar, the Lion of the Desert, who defended the sovereignty of Libya against foreign forces,” said Ordeman.
“He remains a symbol of Libyan unity and national pride. His legacy of bringing together Libyans to work in harmony for freedom will always be remembered.”
