UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, reviewed on Tuesday with the Tunisian Foreign Minister, Nabil Ammar, the developments of the political settlement in Libya.
During their meeting in Tunis, Bathily indicated his efforts with the various Libyan parties, neighboring countries and international partners in order to advance this path and promote dialogue between Libyans, in a way that leads to organizing elections as soon as possible according to the will of the Libyan people.
He appreciated Tunisia’s constructive positions and its pivotal role in supporting the international settlement process in Libya.
For his part, Ammar reaffirmed Tunisia’s firm position in support of reaching a comprehensive and lasting Libyan-Libyan political solution, within the framework of dialogue and consensus among all components of the Libyan people, in a way that preserves Libya’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
Ammar also renewed Tunisia’s readiness to continue providing all forms of support to the brotherly Libyan people, and to the efforts of the United Nations and its mission in Libya in order to strengthen the foundations of security, stability and development in this brotherly country and in the entire region.
