The United States has named Mohammed Etreki as Libya’s first Consul General in Houston, the U.S. embassy in Libya announced on Saturday.
The announcement was made a day after Etreki met with U.S. ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, who “congratulated him on this important assignment in support of enhanced U.S.-Libyan economic relations,” according to the American embassy.
Etreki was the president of Ma’an Center for Strategic Studies, according to Libyan broadcaster 218 TV which frequently hosted him as contributing writer and a political commentator on its platforms.
