Members of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee will convene a meeting in Egypt soon to discuss removal of foreign forces from Libya’s southern region of Fezzan, said a committee member.
Al-Hadi Al-Falah, a representative of the Libyan National Army (LNA) in the committee, told reporters that he and his counterparts will also discuss “the possibility of opening the public road linking the Heisha area and the municipality of Al-Jufra”, both of which are located in Fezzan.
He also revealed that the international monitors, assigned by the UN to keep the ceasefire, are yet to begin their work “but they will soon,” he said.
The LNA commander anticipates that the monitors will begin their work after the committee’s upcoming meeting and in conjunction with the start of the foreign forces’ withdrawal.
