Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh, participated in a panel discussion on the technical readiness of the concerned sectors for electronic voting, where he listened to the participants’ notes that focused on similar international experiences, and the assessment of the information and communications infrastructure in Libya.
The participants agreed that there is technical readiness to implement any referendum or electoral process via electronic voting or online voting, in order to ensure the integrity and security of information and the integrity of the results.
The Head of the National Information Authority clarified the requirements for developing the database to be more reliable in implementing this process in accordance with international standards.
Dbeibeh directed to conduct an integrated electronic voting experiment in the form of an electronic political consultation in the near future on the developments of the current political situation in Libya, and ordered holding a wide scientific symposium to raise awareness of the issue and to overcome all difficulties.
This comes after the House of Representatives (HoR) dismissed Dbeibeh as a prime minister and designated Fathi Bashagha to form a new government.
