Libya – Member of Parliament Mohamed Al-Abani said that the 4+4 Joint Committee’s path is aligned with the U.S. peace initiative, which aims to unify state institutions, end the crisis, and create conditions for elections in the interest of the citizens.
Al-Abani told Al-Masar TV that the American initiative has gained momentum. He noted that direct American support and U.S. influence in the Security Council have boosted the chances of a political settlement.
He added that any disagreements within the 4+4 committee are unlikely to last. According to Al-Abani, the committee members are working to reach agreements that will resolve the crisis and move the political process forward.
Al-Abani also said the ongoing dispute between the House of Representatives and the State Council has contributed to continued chaos and stalled political solutions. However, he believes these disagreements will not withstand international pressures, especially given the strong U.S. position supporting a political settlement.
