Tehran condemns Britain for allowing Washington to use its bases to strike Iran, calls it an act of aggression

Tehran – The Iranian Foreign Ministry has condemned the British government’s recent decision to allow the United States to use its military bases and facilities to prepare for and facilitate unauthorized military attacks against Iran. In a statement, the ministry said the ruling Conservative Party’s support for American and Israeli military operations against Iran represents a violation of international legal obligations, including respect for Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The ministry said this move recalls a history of British intervention in Iranian affairs, highlighting the 1953 coup as a peak of such interference. The statement stressed that the decision clearly violates the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, and said it paves the way for further acts of aggression against Iran, referencing Article 3(w) of UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 on the definition of aggression.

According to the statement, British politicians made their decision knowing that US military strikes on Iran—carried out since the beginning with the participation of the Israeli regime—constitute an explicit act of aggression and a blatant violation of international principles. The ministry warned that any involvement or cooperation in preparing or executing such illegal attacks would be considered complicity in committing the crime of aggression and war crimes. It added that any party participating in military aggression against Iran would bear responsibility for the consequences.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry concluded that the United Kingdom, as a sovereign state and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has chosen to side with aggressors rather than condemn military attacks and war crimes committed by the United States and Israel against Iran. The ministry said this position undermines Britain’s claims to supporting the rule of law, human rights, international peace, and security.
