Arab Parliament Urges International Community to Act Swiftly to Protect Palestinian People

Arab Parliament Urges International Community to Act Swiftly to Protect Palestinian People

Cairo – The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, strongly condemned what he called a dangerous escalation by Israeli settlers, backed by Israeli occupation forces, against Palestinian civilians and their property across the occupied West Bank. The attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among Palestinians, as well as the burning of homes and property and assaults on Palestinian villages and towns.

In a statement on Saturday, Al-Yamahi said this escalation amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity. He noted that the West Bank is witnessing organized terrorist attacks by settler militias, fully supported by Israel’s hardline government. He described this as a systematic policy aimed at terrorizing and forcibly displacing Palestinians to impose new settlement realities by force, in clear violation of international law, the Geneva Conventions, and United Nations resolutions.

Al-Yamahi stressed that ongoing killings, field executions, and the rise in settler attacks on unarmed civilians and their property reflect Israel’s determination to expand its aggression in the West Bank, alongside acts of destruction, starvation, and genocide in the Gaza Strip. He said these actions are intended to impose new facts on the ground and undermine prospects for a just and comprehensive peace.

He called on the international community, the UN Security Council, the United Nations, and the International Criminal Court to urgently provide international protection for the Palestinian people. He urged them to put an end to settler terrorism, hold Israeli leaders and settlers accountable, impose punitive measures on Israel, and halt all support that enables these serious violations.

Al-Yamahi also called for classifying extremist settler militias and armed settlement organizations as terrorist groups at national and international levels, and banning all dealings with settlements. He advocated suspending privileges and agreements with the Israeli government until it fully complies with international law and UN resolutions.

He reiterated that Israel’s impunity has encouraged further escalation and called for concrete, binding international action to end the aggression, end the occupation, and enable the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights, foremost among them establishing an independent, sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Earlier, human rights organizations, including Israeli groups, had also urged international intervention to stop settler and army attacks on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
