The Mufti dismissed by Parliament, Sadiq Al-Gharyani, during his “Islam and Life” program broadcast on his Al-Tanasuh channel and followed by Al-Marsad newspaper, renewed his attack on the Deterrence Apparatus (Alradaa ) and its commander, Abdel Raouf Kara, accusing the Souq al-Juma’a area of siding with the apparatus and preventing the state from extending its authority.
Al-Gharyani said: “I say to all the prisons, starting with Kara and those like him, and everyone who protects the prisons and claims to be upholding security in Tripoli: I remind them that God tortures those who torture people, referring to the Hadith of the Prophet, peace be upon him. I say to those who protect this, whether involved in the Alradaa prisons or those who claim to be from Souq al-Juma’a and support and protect injustice, and prevent the government from extending its authority and bringing the prisons under the justice system: I warn everyone who does this. Each person chooses for himself what he sees fit. If you see the torment of Hellfire as easier for you, then you are free to choose the fire.”
Al-Gharyani continued: “Everything the militias and criminals do, from financial and moral corruption to torturing people in prisons, is a curse upon them and their associates. Those who torture in the Mitiga prisons, while some people bemoan the security measures being taken and the government’s demand that those in charge of Mitiga, the Deterrence battalion, hand over the prisons, abide by the law, and curb criminality… Some people and impostors claiming to be from Souq al-Juma’a, not the honorable people of Souq al-Juma’a whom we know, some who falsely and unjustly associate themselves with Souq al-Juma’a, champion the continuation of torment and prisons. They prevent the government from extending its authority over an international airport that is supposed to be for all Libyans to travel from without being pursued by anyone. And it is supposed to be that these people in prisons, who have been tortured for many long years, receive no mercy, no justice, and no fair trial. They are supposed to be safe, with rights and justice applied to them. Whoever is innocent must be released, and the torture in prisons must not continue.”
Al-Gharyani added: “There are evil hands reaching into this to increase the trouble for the government, because there are many parties at this time exploiting opportunities and fishing in troubled waters to create more problems for the government. The government must strike with an iron fist against anyone who commits any crime. The security services and internal security must track this and provide the government and officials in the Ministry of Interior with reports. And anyone who commits a felony or a crime, or shuts off the gas, or attacks stations, or cuts cables must be severely punished, because this is highway robbery, banditry, and harm to Muslims. All these people do this while armed, wanting to kill and assassinate, and the government must strike with an iron fist against anyone who dares to harm the people.”
