The National Development Agency has announced the launch of a project to perform kidney transplant operations at Ibn Sina Hospital in Sirte, carried out by the Specialized Arab Medical Group from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The agency clarified that this project is in collaboration with the medical and paramedical staff of the hospital’s Nephrology and Urology department, under the sponsorship of the National Development Agency, and with direct support from General Saddam Khalifa, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief.
It stated that the first two operations of the project are scheduled to take place this Saturday, after the completion of all tissue matching procedures and laboratory tests for the donors, who are relatives of patients suffering from kidney failure.
It was noted that the first operation will be performed using the traditional surgical method, while the second will be performed using laparoscopic technology.
