House of Representatives member Essam Al-Jehani said the UN envoy’s recent briefing repeated previously discussed ideas and proposals, without introducing new solutions to the Libyan crisis.
Al-Jehani, in a post on his personal Facebook page, stated that trust in the international community has declined. He cited some international actors prioritizing their own interests over genuine efforts to resolve the Libyan conflict.
He argued that the “4+4” joint committee initiative appears more realistic for handling the crisis compared to other proposals.
Al-Jehani also criticized the recent tripartite statement by the heads of the three councils, describing it as unrealistic and not reflective of real consensus. He stressed that the signatories of the statement only represent themselves.
Al-Jehani noted the House of Representatives has not convened for months. He pointed to divisions within the High Council of State and said the Presidential Council is not a party to the political process.
