The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, and the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, have agreed on the implementation phases of the de-escalation agreement within the capital, Tripoli. This is part of efforts to enhance stability and unify the country’s security and military institutions.
According to Al-Masar channel, the first phase stipulates the withdrawal of the reserve forces of the Government of National Unity’s Ministry of Defense to outside the Greater Tripoli area. The second phase involves consolidating each security agency within the capital into a single, designated headquarters, with these agencies withdrawing from all other locations.
It added that the third phase consists of handing over the responsibility for securing the capital to the Security Directorate, instead of the Conflict Resolution Committee.
These phases are seen as a practical step towards ending the signs of armed tension and building a more organized and effective security system, thereby contributing to the protection of civilians and supporting the political path towards stability.
