Libyan law professor Raqi al-Mismari stated that there is no seriousness or effectiveness in the actions of the European Union, the African Union, or the United Nations mission to resolve the Libyan crisis. In an exclusive statement to “Erem News,” he noted that these tracks have not led to tangible measures on the ground.
A Different American Stance and Signals from New York
Al-Mismari explained that a different American position has emerged since the return of President Donald Trump, pointing to a meeting held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. He noted that the meeting, chaired by Washington, brought together the parties involved in the Libyan issue and signaled that the United States holds a vision different from that of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.
Direct Notification and Expectation of Swift Action
He added that UN envoy Hanna Tetteh informed Libyan officials that the United States has a different vision than the Mission’s, arguing that this means the Europeans and Africans will not make significant progress in the absence of practical measures on their part. He concluded by stressing that the American vision could lead to swift decisions, particularly in managing the economic and security files due to their internal dysfunction.
