The Director-General of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belqasim Khalifa, inaugurated on Friday the bridge over Wadi Bu Al-Mahboul, which connects the cities of Derna and Sousse.
The Fund stated that the inauguration of the bridge is part of a series of development projects it is supervising under its strategic plan to reconstruct affected areas and support vital infrastructure networks.
It added that this project is part of the Fund’s ongoing efforts to improve and develop the region’s road and bridge networks, contributing to easier movement between cities, enhancing connectivity between main arteries, and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic, especially on roads with high traffic density or those serving as vital corridors for residents and services.
The Fund’s management affirmed that the opening of the bridge represents a significant step in the reconstruction process, as it provides a safe crossing and mitigates risks previously faced by traffic, particularly during wadi floods or in emergency weather conditions.
