House of Representatives member Jaballah Al-Shibani considered that the head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, is deliberately embarrassing every representative who has committed to attending the parliament’s sessions, which he describes as “the fulcrum” and a symbol of the unity of villages, countryside, and cities, despite its shortcomings. This was stated in a post on his Facebook page.
Criticizing Dbeibeh
Al-Shibani said that the representatives from the western region who attend the sessions in the east “have a political stance,” adding that the East “is not Tel Aviv,” and that Dbeibeh is “in no position to criticize them.” He described the era Dbeibeh represents as “a shameful era of chaos, clowning, thuggery, and unpatriotism,” as he put it.
2011 and the Popular Protests
Al-Shibani explained that what happened in 2011 “was inevitable,” but its results were “counterproductive.” He stressed his support for popular protests demanding rights and improved living conditions. He criticized “embracing Sarkozy and Macron and applauding NATO as it pounded our military and civilian infrastructure,” considering that stubbornness and failure to acknowledge the scale of the disaster “divides the ranks.”
A Call for Reconciliation and a Path to Reform
Al-Shibani stressed that “acknowledging the scale of the calamity and working together to fix the imbalance” represents the beginning of true national reconciliation, saying he is prepared to stand alone in defense of this conviction.
Reference to the Qananu Incident
He concluded by referring to what happened to his fellow MP Salem Qananu, considering that he “expresses the conviction of many.”
