Wadi Al-Shati – The Faculty of Engineering at Wadi Al-Shati University has awarded the top three innovative project ideas. The ceremony concluded the “Best Engineering Project Idea” competition for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The winner announcement was attended by University President Nasser Abu Hammoud. Acting Dean Ali Akasha was also present. Other deans, department heads, and a large crowd of students attended.
The judging committee announced Salima Muhammad as the first-place winner. Her project was the “Wadi” application for university education. Khadija Muhammad took second place for a smart watch that predicts angina attacks. Third place went to the Desert Architecture team for a medical tourism resort in Ghat. The team consisted of students Maryam Muhammad and Amna Ibrahim.
The awards followed a five-week competition with wide student participation. The committee received 54 projects in the first stage. Thirty-seven ideas qualified to move forward. Only five projects reached the final round. This was based on technical reviews and polls from over 400 students and faculty members.
The university president praised the students’ efforts in organizing the competition. He stated it was a purely student-led initiative that grew to include all scientific departments. He considered its success a testament to the students’ capacity for innovation and leadership.
