Al-Shibani: We support teachers’ rights but suspending classes threatens the future of children from poor families

Al-Shibani: We support teachers' rights but suspending classes threatens the future of children from poor families

Member of Parliament Jayallah Al-Shaibani has warned that suspending classes and denying children from poor families access to education is extremely dangerous. He criticized the inequality among families, noting that wealthier families can provide alternative educational opportunities for their children.

In a Facebook post, Al-Shaibani expressed support for teachers and their right to a decent standard of living. However, he stressed that securing this right should not come at the expense of students’ futures.

Al-Shaibani said the crisis goes beyond salary increases. He called for comprehensive economic reforms to address currency imbalances, parallel spending, suspicious financial allocations, fuel and subsidized goods smuggling, embassy mismanagement, and corruption.

He also supported establishing a unified and fair salary scale that considers qualifications, responsibilities, and economic conditions. He said this should promote social justice without compromising the state’s financial stability. Al-Shaibani emphasized that poor children should not bear the cost of corruption or see education become a privilege for the wealthy rather than a right for all.
