Libya’s Audit Bureau has issued a formal letter to the Government of National Unity (GNU), headed by Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah, reaffirming its commitment to its full legal oversight authority—particularly concurrent auditing—and firmly rejecting any attempt to infringe upon its legally mandated powers.
The Bureau stressed the need for all government entities under its supervision to comply with existing legislation and court rulings, warning of legal and administrative consequences for any violations of its jurisdiction.
In its statement, the Bureau emphasized that its oversight role is vital to safeguarding public funds, promoting transparency, and ensuring accountability across state institutions. It called on all parties to respect the independence of regulatory bodies and adhere strictly to the legal frameworks governing their operations.
The move comes amid increasing scrutiny of government spending and repeated calls for institutional reform to address Libya’s ongoing financial and governance challenges.
