Bashagha calls on Eni to immediately halt discussions with GNU on amending oil quotas in Libya

The Libyan Prime Minister, Fathi Bashagha, directed a message to the Italian oil company, Eni, regarding its entry into discussions with the Government of National Unity (GNU) about amending oil quotas.

Bashagha said via Twitter: “The leadership of Eni, it has come to our knowledge that you have entered into discussions with the current illegal administration of the National Oil Corporation and the former Government of National Unity whose mandate ended last December.”

The Prime Minister added: “The purpose is to amend the participation quotas in the Libyan maritime areas, which greatly harms Libya’s sovereign interests and the interests of its people.”

Bashagha continued: “We ask you to immediately stop following these measures, which would harm the joint and historical relations between Libya and Italy.”

He confirmed: “Whoever gives up the rights of the Libyans and exploits our great nation at a difficult time bears legal and moral responsibility.”
