Former Libyan Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha welcomed today the issuance of parliamentary elections law by the House of Representatives.
“We appreciate the keenness of [the House] members to ensure the implementation of presidential and parliamentary elections on their scheduled dates,” Bashagha said via Twitter. “We call on the High National Elections Commission to start taking measures to ensure the organization and implementation of free, fair and transparent elections”.
The former minister called on all Libyan parties to “uphold the national interest” and “overcome differences” in order to “enable Libyans to exercise their right to go to the polls on December 24.”

Fathi Bashagha (@fathi_bashagha) October 5, 2021
