AJDABIYA, Libya – Commander of the Ground Forces of the Libyan National Army Brigadier General Saddam Khalifa, paid a visit to inspect repairs on the Man-made River pipeline near Ajdabiya on Tuesday, part of ongoing efforts to restore water access for Libyan citizens.
Brigadier General Khalifa, along with Prime Minister Osama al-Hamad, met with engineers on-site who described the progress made so far. Crews have drained the pipeline completely and begun removing the damaged section of the pipe. All necessary replacement parts are now on hand, including a new section of pipe slated for installation today.
Officials estimate the repairs could take up to 18 days to complete, with work continuing around the clock.
In remarks to reporters, Brigadier General Khalifa expressed full confidence in the engineers’ ability to restore the pipeline on schedule. “We will harness the full resources and capabilities to solve this crisis as quickly as possible,” he said.
The commander reiterated his commitment to remain on site personally until regular water flow resumes for citizens dependent on the strategic pipeline. The visit was the latest in an ongoing effort by officials to provide critical services amidst Libya’s unstable political climate.
