Al-Asaba’a – The Education Monitoring Office of Al-Asaba’a municipality announced the suspension of classes for tomorrow, Thursday, in all educational institutions within the municipality, after similar cases of illness were observed among a number of students over the past few days.
The Director of the Media Office of the Al-Asaba’a Municipal Council, Al-Siddiq Al-Muqtaf, said in a statement to the Libyan News Agency that the Council “is continuously monitoring the health situation in schools,” stressing the ongoing coordination with the Education Monitoring Office and health authorities to take any necessary precautionary measures.
Al-Muqtaf explained that the decision was based on reports from school principals and observations from field visit teams, which recorded the appearance of similar symptoms among students, noting that the virus causing the cases is considered a contagious disease.
He indicated that the suspension of classes is a proactive step “to ensure the safety of students and prevent the spread of infection within educational institutions,” stating that the Municipal Council has issued instructions to intensify health monitoring in the coming period.
Al-Muqtaf confirmed that classes will resume next Sunday, calling on school principals to inform educational staff and parents of the decision, to closely monitor the health situation within their institutions, and to report any new developments to the Council immediately.
He concluded his statement by affirming the readiness of the Municipal Council’s inspection and follow-up teams to monitor the health situation, stressing that the goal is “to maintain a safe and stable educational environment for all students.”
