The French mission working at the archaeological site of Athrun concluded its work on Thursday, an occasion marked by a visit from the Al Abraq Antiquities Inspector and the director of the Al Qubbah Antiquities Office, under whose jurisdiction the site falls.
The inspection officials were accompanied on this important occasion by Miftah Belal, one of Athrun’s notables.
Professor Michel and Mohammed Fikroun, a board member of the Department of Antiquities and supervisor of the mission’s work, installed an informational sign detailing the features of the Athrun archaeological site.
This step is part of efforts to raise awareness, introduce the site, and highlight its historical importance.
At the end of the visit, the Inspector expressed his thanks and gratitude to the French mission, praising its return to the site after a long absence.
He wished them a safe return to their country, expressing his hope to welcome them again next season.
