Benghazi – The opening events of the Skydive Benghazi Air Sports Club, the first of its kind and the largest internationally in Libya, concluded Sunday evening with a distinguished ceremony attended by a number of official and sports figures.
More than 70 skydivers from various countries participated in the ceremony, in the presence of the Mayor of Benghazi Municipality Saqr Boujwari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Major General Faraj Aqaim, Head of the National Development Agency Jibril Al-Badri, Minister of Government Communication Dr. Khalid Al-Saadawi, President of the Olympic Committee for Air Games Mohsen Al-Sibai, and Head of the Libyan Heritage and Wild Hunting Authority Mohammed Al-Oraibi.
The President of the Libyan Air Sports Federation, Luali Lotfi Al-Shteibi, affirmed that the club’s opening represents an exceptional event and an important opportunity for air sports enthusiasts in Libya, adding that the club will be a platform that brings together fans of these sports from all over the world.
For his part, the Mayor of Benghazi Municipality expressed his great pride in the city hosting this international sporting event, welcoming the participation of international athletes, and noting that this event reflects the values of peace and brotherhood among peoples.
The CEO of the Air Sports Club, Tariq Saada, also praised the great support provided by the Deputy General Commander, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa, stressing that the club is the largest in the world and will soon be registered in the Guinness World Records.
The ceremony included the graduation of the first batch of paraglider pilots in Libya, where the General Manager of Skydive Benghazi Club, Muhannad Al-Shehibi, honored the participating skydivers and paraglider pilots. The ceremony also witnessed the announcement of Libya’s entry into the Guinness World Records after raising the largest flag during this demonstration.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, prizes were distributed, where Al-Sharif Al-Jami won the grand prize, the “Golden Voucher,” which includes a modern car, in addition to awarding 50 other gifts to the winners of various coupons.
It is noteworthy that the Skydive Benghazi Club opens new horizons for air sports in Libya and enhances the country’s position in the international sports arena.
