Libyan journalist Mahmud El-Forjani said the interim National Unity Government headed by Abdel Hamid Dbeibah “had failed in the service and health files,” and that “Benghazi and the whole Cyrenaica; from Sirte to Imsaaed to Kufra, and Sebha and the southwest are without the COVID-19 vaccine doses since ten days.”
“Vaccine distribution is only focused on the western region,” he added.
“Are we waiting for a disaster to occur so that the entire country will be provided with the necessary vaccinations for prevention? Is the central government dealing with reaction plans without proactive studies? Was the unification of institutions only for the sake of oil and money, while the ugly centralization still controls us!?!” El-Forjani asked in Saturday statements.
“Unfortunately, a double failure in all the service and health files, and people are dying because of this virus, while His Excellency the PrimeMinister, his family, and cousins are on vacation in the Aman Resort of Misurata,” the former candidate for the presidency of the High National Elections Commission added.
Libya is witnessing a record rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, where positive cases in several municipalities exceeded more than 60 percent of the samples tested.
The total number of cases recorded in the country reached 229,604, of which 185,468 have recovered, while 3344 cases have died. The number of active cases currently reached 40,792, a number that has doubled twice in the past few days.
