Tripoli – The General Electricity Company announced on Monday that maintenance teams from the Tripoli High-Voltage Lines Department have successfully removed a faulty transformer inside the 220 kV East Station and replaced it with a new 100-megawatt, 30/220 kV transformer. This is part of intensive preparations for the upcoming winter peak season.
In a statement, the company explained that the maintenance work also includes cleaning and washing high-voltage transmission network components to ensure continuity and operational efficiency.
The company added that yesterday, teams from the Misrata High-Voltage Lines Maintenance Department washed the insulators of the 400 kV transformer at the Misrata power generation station. They also performed comprehensive maintenance on the 400 kV Misrata-Gulf circuit, which included repairing three cut jumpers on the “R” phase at tension tower number 534.
The teams also carried out emergency maintenance on the West Tripoli – South Tripoli 400 kV circuits (No. 1 and 2), which included maintaining the jumpers at tower number 12. Additionally, maintenance was performed on the Bir Al-Osta Milad – Ain Zara 220 kV circuits (No. 1 and 2) inside the Al-Na’am camp, which involved pruning trees under the path of the two circuits to prevent outages.
These continuous efforts affirm the company’s commitment to enhancing the readiness of the electrical grid and ensuring a stable power supply during critical periods, especially with the approach of winter.
