“The issuance of the Constitutional Court Law by the House of Representatives is a matter that achieves and reinforces justice in Libya, and has no effect on the constitutional path in talks with the State Council, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, announced.
“We affirm that the House of Representatives’ issuance of the law establishing the Constitutional Court is an affirmation of the protection of freedoms and rights and the addition of a specialized judiciary in constitutional matters,” Saleh said in a statement today.
“The establishment of a constitutional court by the House of Representatives and the legislative authority is confirmation of what the members of the Constitutional Track Committee formed from the House of Representatives and the State Council agreed upon, and no one objected to it, which confirms everyone’s desire to establish a constitutional judiciary that protects rights and freedoms,” he added.
