The ambassador of the European Union (EU) Nicola Orlando said Saturday he met with UN envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily and “had an insightful exchange of views on the worrying stalemate of the political process, which increasingly jeopardizes stability and the unity of Libya.”
The ambassador also said he had confirmed EU’s support to Bathily’s mediation and reiterated EU’s encouragement for bold efforts to bring the key stakeholders to the negotiating table to take Libya to national elections.
”We agreed the Libyans’ concerns cannot be ignored and members of the international community have a role to play.” Orlando added.
