The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, received the Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Ms. Hanna Tetteh, her deputy, Ms. Stephanie Koury, and their accompanying delegation at the General Command Headquarters in Benghazi.
During the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief reaffirmed his support for the UN Mission’s efforts and its endeavors to advance the political process, aiming to reach the milestone of holding both presidential and parliamentary elections.
For her part, Ms. Tetteh provided the Commander-in-Chief with a briefing on the discussions conducted by the structured dialogue committees. These dialogues aim to formulate a roadmap that leads to the successful execution of the national elections.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to maintain continuous coordination and consultation to support the UN Mission’s steps in Libya, ultimately striving to achieve permanent stability in the country.
