Sebha – Sebha’s Scout and Girl Guide Commission celebrated a significant anniversary yesterday evening. It marked the 72nd anniversary of the establishment of the General Scout and Girl Guide Movement. The celebration also recognized the movement’s National Day. It was held at the Municipal Theater in Sebha.
Commander Ahmed Hussein, a member of the movement’s General Secretariat, attended the celebration. Abdul Hamid, Commissioner of Sebha’s Commission, was also present. Zidan Labda, Commissioner of the Pioneers Association, attended. Zainab Abdul Qader Najm, Commissioner for Girl Guide Leaders Development, also participated. Members of the Executive Office and troop leaders were there. A large gathering of Scouting movement members from Sebha and Wadi Al-Bawanis joined the event.
Sebha’s Commission emphasized the Scout movement’s role. It is an educational institution. It instills values of discipline, volunteering, and patriotism in its members. It promotes community service. Scouting is a noble mission. It aims to build conscious individuals capable of contributing.
Commander Ahmed Hussein Bashir, a member of the General Secretariat, spoke on behalf of the General Leadership. He clarified that Scouting is a school for life. It helps build balanced personalities. It fosters values of responsibility and discipline. Scouting is a national and humanitarian project. It prepares a generation capable of facing challenges. It also ensures adherence to authentic values.
The ceremony included artistic performances. There was also a display of Scouting memory. Songs and chants expressed the joy of the Commission’s members. Several pioneering leaders were honored. They received the “Pine” medal. This recognized their contributions to Scouting. Their work covered local, Arab, and regional levels.
The event also saw certificates awarded to several female members. They completed a leadership training course. A Scout exhibition was inaugurated. It featured uniforms, medals, shields, and emblems. Photo albums documented the Scouting movement’s journey. It also showcased its various programs and activities.
