Tripoli – The Public Prosecutor’s Office revealed a new forgery case. It involved civil registry data. This enabled a foreign national to obtain national identification numbers. The individual also assumed official and security duties. The office stated the Public Prosecution ordered the arrest of a foreign national. The arrest follows the forgery of citizenship data from the Jalo Civil Registry Office.
The individual held a public position at the Ministry of Transport. They joined the Internal Security Agency in 2018. This is part of an investigation into civil status data forgery. The probe is supervised by the Public Advocate’s Office in Benghazi. A statement from the Public Prosecutor’s Office was issued on Sunday. It noted that investigators tracked evidence.
This evidence showed an Egyptian expatriate used a family registration. This registration was falsely attributed to the Jalo Civil Registry Office. These investigators operate under the Public Advocate’s Office in Benghazi. The statement added that the investigation confirmed the expatriate’s forgery. The individual forged citizenship data. This data was used to assume a public position. This occurred at the General People’s Committee for Transport and Maritime Navigation in 1985. The individual later joined the Internal Security Agency in 2018.
The forged data also facilitated obtaining nine national identification numbers. Family members used these numbers to acquire administrative documents. They also benefited from citizenship rights. Consequently, the Public Prosecution decided to halt all documents. These documents were based on the forgery. The prosecution will also trace all benefits derived from it. The foreign national was ordered into pretrial detention. An investigation was launched to find the office employee responsible for the forgery.
