Derna – Firefighting teams from the Green Mountain branch of the National Safety Authority extinguished a blaze in a residential apartment in Derna on Sunday evening. The fire was caused by gasoline stored inside the apartment. One resident sustained minor burns, and the fire resulted in material damage to the property.
Suleiman Mhimid, director of the authority’s Green Mountain branch, said in a statement that crews responded immediately to the report. They managed to contain and fully extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building and neighboring residences.
Mhimid confirmed that there were no fatalities. He warned of the dangers of storing gasoline in homes, citing the substance’s high flammability and the risk it poses to lives and property. He urged residents to avoid keeping fuel in residential spaces and to follow safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
