For the first time, Libya secures the right to host the Africa Table Tennis Cup

The Sports Editor at (WAL): For the first time, Libya secures the right to host the Africa Table Tennis Cup

Benghazi – Libya successfully secured the right to host the African Table Tennis Cup. This tournament qualifies for the World Cup. The Libyan bid presented a comprehensive file. It met all technical and organizational requirements. These were approved by the African Table Tennis Federation. This new sporting achievement reflects the country’s gradual return. Libya is now back on the map of continental and international hosting.

The Libyan News Agency hosted a press dialogue. It was held at its headquarters in Benghazi. The President of the Libyan Table Tennis Federation, Mohammed Al-Dweiki, announced this success. He reviewed the details of this achievement. He also discussed its sporting and organizational dimensions.

Al-Dweiki affirmed the Libyan Table Tennis Federation made extensive efforts. This ensured Libya obtained the honor of hosting. Competition was strong with several African nations. However, the Libyan bid stood out. It was comprehensive and precise. This included technical aspects. It also covered logistical and security arrangements.

The importance of hosting goes beyond the sporting dimension. It is not just about the continental competition for the World Cup. It highlights Libya’s true image. It shows Libya as a stable nation. It also demonstrates Libya’s ability to organize major sports events.

The Federation President clarified Benghazi will be the gateway to the World Table Tennis Cup. This cup will be held in China. The Federation also secured preliminary approval. This allows them to host several other tournaments. These include the African Club Championship. It is one of the continent’s most prominent tournaments. The North African Championship will also be hosted. This qualifies for the African Cup. These tournaments will boost sports activity. They will also revitalize individual sports within Libya.

The hosting bid faced some obstacles. These mainly came from parties within the African Federation. They cited security concerns. The Libyan Federation addressed these claims realistically and transparently. It presented evidence of stable conditions. Benghazi previously hosted the International Reconstruction Tournament. This event featured Italy’s Inter Milan and Spain’s Atletico Madrid last October. This prompted continental federation committees to visit the city. They conducted on-site inspections of its readiness.

The Federation President congratulated the entire Libyan sports family. He expressed regret over weak official attention to individual sports. This is compared to team sports. Individual sports achieved distinguished results with limited resources. He attributed the absence of Libyan athletes from podiums to weak institutional support. He also cited a lack of specialized coaching staff in early age groups.

Al-Dweiki confirmed Benghazi will host three important sporting events this year. The African Table Tennis Cup will begin in February. It will feature 15 to 21 participating nations. In April, the African Club Championship will follow. In October, the North African Championship will take place. This event qualifies for the African Cup.

The Federation has finalized the organizing, reception, and media committees. He stressed the crucial role of media. It must convey an honorable image of Libya. The tournaments will be broadcast through the continental federation’s official platforms. They will reach over 214 countries worldwide.

The Federation President concluded his statements with a call for collective effort. Everyone should work together to ensure the success of these events. They must overcome difficulties. This will guarantee the success of the upcoming continental championships.
