Abu Dhabi – UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Presidential Court Chief Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, to discuss ways to strengthen relations between the United Arab Emirates and Libya. Both leaders reviewed opportunities to expand cooperation across various sectors and exchanged views on recent regional developments.
In a separate meeting, UAE Minister of State for Defense Affairs Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Fadel Al Mazrouei and Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei met with Lieutenant General Haftar. The parties underlined the importance of continued defense coordination and efforts to enhance military cooperation in support of shared interests.
According to the media office of the Libyan Armed Forces General Command, the meeting in Abu Dhabi also addressed the latest developments on both the domestic and international fronts. Lieutenant General Haftar praised the strong historic ties between Libya and the UAE and expressed appreciation for the UAE’s continued support for Libya. He affirmed the Libyan military’s commitment to working with the UAE to bolster regional stability and security.
Sheikh Mansour reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to supporting Libya and developing bilateral relations to serve the mutual interests of both countries.
On social media, Lieutenant General Haftar stated he was honored to meet Sheikh Mansour in Abu Dhabi. He said the meeting covered a wide range of issues of mutual concern, recent regional developments, and efforts to promote stability and regional security. He emphasized the importance of deepening the historic and brotherly ties between Libya and the UAE and expanding cooperation to benefit both nations.
