Benghazi – Dr. Yassin Othman Al-Hasnawi, Deputy for Academic Affairs at the Higher Institute for Tourism and Hospitality Technologies in Benghazi, said that the MENA Food 2026 exhibition is an important opportunity for sharing expertise between educational institutions and companies in the food, hospitality, and hotel sectors. He noted that participating in such events helps build more effective partnerships between the education sector and the job market.
Speaking during the exhibition, Al-Hasnawi explained that he presented a research paper examining the gap between technical education outcomes and the needs of the tourism and hospitality labor market. He highlighted the importance of updating educational and training programs to keep pace with rapid changes in the sector, including the introduction of new technologies and evolving job skills.
He pointed out that Benghazi, and Libya more broadly, is seeing growth in the construction of modern hotels. This expansion requires the development of local professionals with the technical and vocational skills needed for the industry. Bridging the gap between education and the sector’s needs, he said, requires ongoing cooperation between educational institutions, industry employers, and specialized companies.
Al-Hasnawi added that the exhibition is more than just a space for displaying products and services.
