General Saddam Meets with U.S. AFRICOM Leaders to Boost Cooperation

Major General Saddam Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Libyan National Army’s Ground Forces, welcomed U.S. officials in his office at the Army Headquarters. The delegation included Lieutenant General John W. Brennan Jr., Deputy Commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM); Jeremy Berndt, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Libya; and Rear Admiral Ronald Foy, Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAF), along with their accompanying team.

During the meeting, discussions focused on enhancing joint efforts between the Libyan National Army and the United States in combating terrorism. They also explored the implementation of joint training programs aimed at improving the Libyan Army’s capabilities in border security and reducing illegal migration.

The meeting was attended by directors from various departments within the Libyan Army’s Ground Forces Command, emphasizing the commitment of both parties to strengthen their military cooperation.
