The meeting between the rival military of eastern and was western Libya was merely “sweet talk that does not change anything in attitudes,” said Abdul Rahman Al-Shater, a member of the High Council of State.
General Abdel-Razek Al-Nadori, the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), and General Mohammed Al-Hadad, the leader of military forces in west of the country, met for the first time in Sirte on Saturday.
In a statement via his Twitter page, Al-Shater did acknowledge that the meeting “calls for optimism”. However, he said Al-Nadori need to make “practical step” to “prove his credibility.”
“This [step] is to expel the Wagner mercenaries, because they [LNA] are the ones who brought them and they are the ones who have to take them out,” the HCS member added.
