Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, said the executive authority represented in the government of Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh had certain duties in a certain period of time, but it failed.
“During the coming few days, agreement with the State Council on the file of sovereign positions would be made,” Saleh confirmed in a press conference held at the Arab League headquarters in Egypt after his meeting with the Secretary-General of the League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
“HoR made a constitutional amendment giving the authority to establish the constitutional rule by a joint committee between HoR and the State Council,” he added.
HoR Speaker stressed that the absence of a UN envoy during the last period hindered the completion of the constitutional rule because the meeting of the committee must be under the auspices of the UN.
Saleh called on the UN envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, to invite the Constitutional Base Committee formed by the House of Representatives and the State Council to meet, noting that there would be an agreement between HoR and the State Council to choose a unified executive authority.
