Washington – Hyundai Motor America has decided to recall 61,093 vehicles. These include 2026 Palisade and 2026 Palisade Hybrid models. The affected trims are Limited and Calligraphy. The recall is due to a potential risk with the electric second and third-row seats.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) clarified the issue. The seats might not detect a person’s presence. This could cause electric seat functions to continue moving. These functions include reclining, sliding, or automatic folding and stowing. Movement can occur even after contact with the seat. This increases the risk of injury, especially for children.
NHTSA advised owners of these vehicles to exercise caution. They should be careful when using the electric rear seat functions. It emphasized that children should not be in or near the rear seats. This applies during the electric folding process.
Hyundai confirmed it is developing a permanent solution. Currently, it will provide a free software update. This update is for the electric seat control system. The company is scheduled to begin sending notification letters. Affected vehicle owners will receive these letters starting May 16. The letters will direct them to service centers for necessary repairs.
