The path that will lead to the elections in Libya “is not easy” but it must be held “quickly”, said Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Friday.
Speaking to reporters after returning from Turkey, Tajani said that his country is eager for Libyan elections to be held in order to address the migration crisis.
“We have to get to the elections quickly because we have the immigration problem that needs to be solved. We must hurry,” he said.
“I hope it will be a matter of months”, the Italian diplomat added.
“We are working to achieve the goal of stabilizing Libya. We will provide patrol boats and we are doing everything we can to address stability and immigration,” Tajani said.
